Corrections Before Publication
Before publication, authors were provided with PDF galley proofs of their accepted manuscripts for proofreading and correction. Authors should carefully review these proofs and clearly indicate any necessary changes. These corrections are made prior to the article’s final publication to ensure accuracy and quality.
Corrections After Publication
Post-publication corrections may be issued if an error is identified that significantly affects the validity, reliability, or clarity of the published work. Such corrections are formally published in a subsequent issue of the journal under the title “Corrections and Addendum.”
Retractions
A retraction is a formal public statement that withdraws, cancels, or invalidates a previously published article or part thereof. Retractions may be initiated by journal editors, the authors, or their affiliated institutions. In all cases, editors will consult reviewers and relevant experts before making a final decision.
Articles may be retracted for reasons including, but not limited to:
A retraction is issued when an alteration changes the main conclusions or reliability of the work. If the core findings remain valid and only minor errors are present, a correction may be issued instead.
The Iraqi Journal of Civil Engineering (IJCE) adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Retraction Guidelines when determining the appropriate course of action. For more information, please refer to the COPE Retraction Guidelines.
Withdrawal Policy
Occasionally, authors may request to withdraw their manuscripts during the publication process or after acceptance. In some cases, these requests are received when the manuscript is already closed to publication. Such withdrawals cause significant time and resource loss for editors, reviewers, and the editorial team.
A withdrawn manuscript is archived in the journal’s database and is no longer considered for publication. Articles may also be withdrawn by the editors if they represent early or duplicate versions of other published works, or if they are found to violate the journal’s ethical standards.
Withdrawal requests must include a valid and justified reason, approved by the corresponding author and, when applicable, all co-authors.
